Visions of Science Network for Learning is proud to introduce AstraZeneca Canada Inc. as the title sponsor for the Tomorrow Now High School Science Fair and the Visions Science Club Network elementary school science fair. AstraZeneca Canada and Visions of Science in partnership with Torys LLP, Youth Science Ontario and Ryerson University launches the 2nd Annual “Tomorrow Now” High School Science Fair. The intent of the “Tomorrow Now” High School Science Fair is to promote an interest in science careers among socially and educationally disadvantaged youth. The “Tomorrow Now” science fair will be held at Ryerson University, Ryerson Student Centre, 55 Gould Street, Toronto on Saturday, May 1st, 2010 from 11.00 am to 3.00 pm.
The AstraZeneca “Tomorrow Now” High School Science Fair compliments our 4th Annual Visions Science Fair for participants of Visions of Science weekly science clubs located across Toronto and the GTA targeting grade 5 to 8 students from low income and minority communities. We have invited participants from local high schools students across the GTA, targeting schools in several high needs and high risk communities. This unique initiative is meant to encourage students to participate in the school science fair annually, from elementary school all the way through high school. By participating in the science fair annually, students become well practiced at experimentation, the scientific method and presentation skills, as they must present before the judges.
Some of the Award prizes include: trophies, cash, prizes, ribbons. Our top prize will be the Torys LLP Patent Award, Torys LLP is a highly respected international business law firm who will fund the patent cost ($10 000.00) for an innovation, invention and / or discovery from one of our science fair participants. The “Torys LLP Patent Award" would involve taking a winning entry through the whole process of patenting. Members of the Torys intellectual property group would review submissions to the science fair and select one as the recipient of the award. Their intellectual property group would work with the winner of our award to prepare, submit and process a Canadian patent application and try to obtain an issued patent. If the patent is awarded, it would be owned solely by the winner of the award. The “Tomorrow Now” Science Fair is a unique and groundbreaking science fair, we invite you to come out and be a part of the celebration of young Canadian minds.
