Criteria
- Art should reflect the theme:
- My Strange Neighbour (Grade 7 - 9)
- A Food Chain or Life Cycle on an Alien Planet (Grade 5).
5th graders can create their poster alone or in groups up to 3 persons
- Posters should be 11x17 inches
- All art must be original work
- Colour scheme: Colours should be used with purpose; to accentuate and enhance piece. Your colours should not just be splashed haphazardly
- Composition: Your picture should be pleasing to the eye. Aim for qualitynot quantity
- Design: Your design/illustration should be exciting, startling, and powerful. In the case of something more serene, the workshould evoke some emotion
(The winner will be based on the artwork that meets 3 out of
4 criteria).
Winning Prizes
1st prize-$200, 2nd prize- $100, 3rd prize-$50 (Grade 7 -9)
Win Kisko Freezies popsicles for your class (Grade 5)
Winning entries will be on exhibit at the annual Visions of Science
Symposium. First place winners will be eligible for publication in the annual IMAGINE
Anthology, and for posting on the Visions of Science website.

Disqualification
Your poster will be disqualified if:
- It does not reflect the theme
- It is not 11x17 inches
Judging
All entries will reviewed by a panel of judges possessing a professional background in
Art and or illustration. The Judges’ decision is final.
Notification: The prize money will be awarded by VoSNL in accordance with the
decision of the judges. Contest winners will be notified by e-mail and or
telephone in May. Money prizes and other awards will be given at a Visions of
Science/IMAGINE event, date and venue tba.
