Visions of Science Network of Learning (Visions) will be partnering with McMaster University to present the 2nd Annual Visions 2010 Hamilton Science Symposium on Saturday May 29, 2010 at the Burke’s Science Building, McMaster University, 1280 Main Street West from 10a.m. to 4p.m.
Visions 2010 Hamilton will highlight the many achievements of African-Canadians, multicultural Canadian and under-represented groups in the field of science and technology from the early 19 Century.
Visions 2010 Hamilton is a free family-friendly event open to the public. Parents are encouraged to bring their family to this fun-filled and innovative symposium, catering to everyone from 5 to 95 years old. . The symposium will discuss and experiment with science and technology, and its integration into in our everyday activities.
This year, the symposium will feature special guests: Dr. Lisa Robinson, a physician at Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto and an Associate Professor of Paediatrics at the University of Toronto speaking on "Ethnicity and Cardiovascular Disease - New approaches" and Ms. Thando Hyman, Toronto District School Board Africentric School Principal presenting on Afrocentric Schooling.
Visions 2010 Hamilton also features fun interactive presentations from Let’s Talk Science, the Canadian Multicultural Inventors Museum, Venture Engineering & Science, Hamilton Youth Steel Orchestra and many others.
Visions seeks to establish long–term relationships with educational, community and science based organizations to bring the best in science programming to communities in Hamilton.
Visions is a Toronto based non-profit educational organization founded in 1991 to promote science and technology in the African-Canadian, Caribbean, and multicultural communities.
